98 camry makes grinding noise while driving

My 1998 camry makes a grinding noise from the wheels while the car's moving. It makes such noise even without me stepping on the break. Sometimes the noise disapears but just for a short period of time. Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks.

wheel bearing or CV joint noise.

Raise the wheel off the ground and see if you can duplicate the sound with the engine off. Unlikely but you could get lucky and find the brake dust shield is bent against the rotor, a rock is stuck between it, or something similar. Or it could just be the wear indicators on the disk brake pad signalling the pads have worn down to the indicator and it is rubbing against the rotor to remind you to change the pads before you score (damage) the rotors.

If its brakes, why not wear the brakes down completely and change pad and rotors? This way the brakes are at their best and no worries about machined rotors, brake fade, or rotor lateral runoff.
