In-Dash 6 CD Player

Has anyone replaced their stock unit with an after-market upgrade? The CD player in the unit in my 2000 Camry has become very temperamental... sometimes it works perfectly, other times you can hear a scrapping noise as the disk spins inside. I'd like to replace it with another stock unit. The Toyota part number is 86120-08130 (am/fm radio, tape player, 6 CD in-dash unit... the radio without the pocket underneath). If you have a working unit you've replaced, let me know what you'd ask for it.

Thanks,

Does the Toyota 'stock' unit you're planning on purchasing play MP3 CDs? If you get a unit that does play MP3s you won't need the 6-CD changer . I purchased a Kenwood MPV7019 unit for under $250 (installed) that plays MP3s. I then burned one CD with 180 of my favorite songs. No need for any changers, it never ever skips, looks great and sounds even better.

Just curious, what does Toyota want for the unit you're considering? Also, if your original stock unit is crapping out after only a few years why are you buying another from the same place? Toyota know cars, not stereos. Good luck.
