Purolator (the filter company) has changed hands several times in recent history. These days the company is indepentent (Purolator Filters NA LLC). The Purolator fitlers I have looked at appear to be decent quality. Purolator does not manufacturer all the fitlers they sell under there brand name. Depending on the application I am sure that they source filters for many applications from other filter suppliers. Many of these suppplier will be in China. One would hope that no matter where the filter was manufacturerd, it would meet Purolator standards, and that these standards are adequate for the application. Purolator claims:

). You could always look at a Denso FIlter a Wix Filter a Fram Filter or one of the many other alternatives. Chances are some or all of them will be made in either China or Japan. If you are worried about the quality, why not just buy an OEM Toyota Filter? On line Toyota Parts stores sell them for around $14.00. Ed
