Do any of you know if there will be any residual problems with my Cruiser if I tow my '80 FJ-40 on a tow dolly which keeps the front two wheels off of the ground? The Cruiser has a manual transmission with a Ranger over-drive attached.

If you put the transfer case and the Overdrive in Neutral, you should be all right - but check the manuals, both Toyota and Ranger.
To be paranoid, you can drop the rear driveshaft before dolly- towing your car with the rear axle on the ground. But be sure to mark the positions of the driveshaft, including both sides of the slip splines (in case it pops apart) and the U-joint yokes with some paint so you can put it all back together in the same orientation - some driveshafts will shake like crazy if they are connected out of phase.
I've also seen slick mods, like locking hubs on the rear axle... But it's a lot of work, and one more failure point if one of those hubs blows up while four-wheeling.
