I have an 02 Tundra (4 door, 4wd). I'm looking for advice on the best shells/canopies for this truck. Toyota lists the Snugtop as an accessory - anyone have experience with this or other shells? I'm looking for a good one since I plkan to keep this truck for a Long time.

Tom, I recently put an ASE lid on my 2001 Tundra as the soft cover I had since new shrunk. I shopped considerably, dealer stated the only way to get factory was to have it installed in the factory when built. My preference was the ASE based on cost, warranty, features and price. I recommend you look at them before you make a decision. Hope this helps, davidj92

I've been very happy with my ARE shell(s)...had one on my '91 Ranger and it always looked great. I recently put a Z series one on my '04 Tundra access cab; they matched the color perfectly. The ARE's seem well-built, have a good warranty, and I have a good local dealer. They're pricey, but "you get what you pay for".

When I bought my 00 GMC, I put a Leer on it. Just sold it after 4 yrs and was very happy with it. IIRC, the Snugtops were top of the line in price and quality. I saved a coupla hundred or so on the Leer and think it was a good decision.

I have the Snugtop "Super Sport" on my 04 Tundra D-Cab ... very good quality and its been on there for a year with no leaks or hardware problems. There wasn't much of an option at the time since it was about the only thing available for the D-Cab ... maybe still the case?
I went with the optional liner for the inside and that, along with a Bedrug, makes it nice on the inside for the occasional camping along with hauling the usual kind of stuff one puts in the back of a pickup.

After having 2 different style caps (1 Leer fiberglass with sliding windows, and an aluminum with no side windows) I now have an aluminum one with flip up side windows. The opening area is much larger than the sliding Leer windows. It sure makes getting the beach chairs, etc out of the front of the bed, when there is other stuff in the rear of the bed. I would never get another cap without this style of window. I think "Innoation" calls this style window, "windoors" Happy shoppimg!
From looking at the website, I noticed the ARE Wedge design - this looks pretty functional to me - any thoughts?

My ARE came with the liner standard. I, too added a bed rug, and I'll second your comment on a what a nice setup this gives you !
