Why would they produce a vehicle thats way to heavy for 1/2 its petrol motors let alone a hybrid one.

Because other manufacturers already produce hybrid pickup trucks?

Can't speak to a specific model, but I read a year or two ago that Toyota expects to have a hybrid option on every model by 2010 IIRC.
Call a dealer. Better yet call several just to check for consistency.
