We could easily get a stock before time I would think. I allways thought the 150 hp was just adequate. The but the paint. Planning to spray it? I may be singing to the choir but did you know that 93 was the last year for the 2 dr 4runner. I loved the lines. Bought off the lot and they trained one in from a couple of provinces over. Only thing I didn't like, that they fixed in 94, was antilock only in 4wd. Dealer quoted my 3-3.5 k for upgrade. But that would have mean't a 4 door.nice truck dave, and a nice site that shows it off. was painful though as I'm on dialup.
Hey Don, umm thats not my truck, just a guy up the road a bit. Hes done a great job on it for sure. Power from those are 175KW standard and with a small (And I mean small) amount of rework 200 is easy. They rev at 6500 all day every day as they are a quad cam and with Toyotas reliability they make great swaps. Its the Lexus V8 that hes used. $8500AUD for a drive in drive out swap fully legal and engineered for road use.
Don; $600 Canadian sounds high to me, but I'm probably a bit spoiled by the SF Bay area.
Then again, my carpets are in good condition. We were in Costco yesterday doing our weekly shopping. The wife talked me into buying their "Genuine Sheepskin" covers (Grey) for the light blue
4Runner. And some Grey mats for the front. Lot of mud where we are, when it rains.As I said, I've apparently the identical problem as you have, with the edge of the front driver seat.. about 2.5 inches long, just worn through to the white liner.
I visualize them as being too hot, but she insists this is not true of real sheepskin.
Will let you know... she wants to do the installation, so sometime this weekend maybe.. lol.

'95 4R brown... same problem. Seats are nice with big side bolsters but wear badly on the high-points. I ordered two brown head-rests off of ebay.... I'll have a local outfit harvest the material and use to patch over the hole. The map pockets on the back of the seats could be used in the same way, however Toyota skimped on material and stopped short and only carried the herringbone style material down ~ 3" below the top edge of the pocket.

The Costco sheepskin covers ($37 ea) were installed. The "installation" was easy and seems secure. The feel from the drivers position is good. No interference with seat controls. The look is good, at least we both like it. We bought one to see how we'd like it. Looks better than the totally stock front passenger seat, which is in close to perfect condition.
Also, although I'm 6'1", I like the slightly higher seating position.
They come in grey and tan, the grey goes well enough with the blue interior.
I mentioned I had some concern about heat. I was remembering, I believe, an artificial sheepskin that had a kind of artifical feel. Those were hot. Sheepskin seems fine, and its been hot here.
