I'm replacing the stock Cassette/CD unit with a Sony Xplod. I can't find what the wattage is of the stock door speakers (I have the AM/FM/C/Cassette and 4 speakers in an Xtra Cab.) Eventually I'll replace them, but for now I just want to make sure it can handle 50 W per channel.
Also, where's a good spot to put an amp? Under one of the front seats?

Just put the new head in. Overpowering a speaker isn't that big a deal. Just listen to you speakers as you push the volume up. You should hear the speaker bottoming out from bass long before you are pushing it hard enough to damage it.
Also, most 50watt heads realy only put out 22watts per channel average power. I've got a 50watt/channel amp powering 2 stock Tacoma door speakers and have no problem.
Thanks. Now that you have said that, I recall hearing that someplace else. Good to know I won't blow anything up before I have the money to upgrade.
