2 questions>engine lid '72 Super

I took the lid off to primer, and forgot the exact procedure to snap the spring back into the body...do I bolt 1 side, and then play w/ the spring before tightening the other side (2 bolts each side bracket), or WHAT? I'd rather slap a VERY strong silicone type glue to hold the license plate light fixture and the Volkswagen script/trim to the lid...what metal-metal adhesive will hold it securely? Thanks! :+) Paul snipped-for-privacy@earthlink.net

The springs are tricky, but I don't remember them being *that* difficult. (also don't remember if I had any tricks, as I haven't worked on a stock bug in years) You would *not* rather glue the light fixture on! Bolt it on if you want it to stay. As for the emblem, 3M makes an emblem adhesive, but you're better off bolting it on or using double-sided molding tape (the glue can be messy). HTH, ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"

Yes ... bolt one side very loosely, attach the spring, then bolt the other side loosely. Be careful opening and closing until you get it all re-aligned or you're going to chip your new primer job.
