30 PICT-3 Carb rebuild

Mar 04, 2004 2 Replies

Hi

UK, 1200 beetle (wrong side of 30 (1972)) dad (wrong side of 40) and son (right side of 20) both newbies, managed to get the carb off the car with some clever mechanicking (think its called a ring spanner). Bought a rebuild kit, rushed home and ripped the kit out of the box and ... deep woe - no friendly material with it. Plenty of instructions for the 34PICT if you google, but can anyone help with the 30. Even some exploded drawings would assist.

Oh yes, why are we doing it? Because there's a flat spot on acceleration, and more worrying - it leaks petrol from the diaphragm seal and redefines a potential incendiary device.

TIA

Tony-

Not much you can do wrong there, assemble with (new parts) in opposite order of disassemble ... It really is that simple! When you take it apart keep things in order to retrace... Do not remove throttle shaft and butterfly! No need, no use and will only give you trouble on assembly. Use plenty of carb cleaner and pressurized air to blow through all orifices..
