Camper bus engine problem.

Jul 02, 2004 4 Replies

Today i picked up a camper bus, cheap but with engine problems. At first the engine was running but cutting out a lot, also cranking over very troublesome, battery is full. Now the engine is dead, there is cranking at full speed and no compression at all on all 4 plugs (ouch!) Any suggestions? The heads look very clean, so i doubd it´s that, rings, on all 4? Oil level fine.

Run a compression check on all cylinders. They should all be within a few pounds of each other somewhere in the 100 range.

What engine?? 1600cc? 2000CC? Hyd lifters??

Pull valve covers off whilst cranking and see if valve stems move.

As mentioned, did that and NO compression at all on all 4 cylinders.

1600, no idea about lifters.

And if they don´t?

If the valves and rockers don't move, there is a cam problem.

1600 wouldn't ordinarily have hyd lifters.
