De -seaming

Hi

Now that the body if off and the welder is coming to fix everything, should I de-seam the car - take the gutters off and the seam forward of the door post?

Pros and cons please

Thanks

Tony

IMHO, deseamed cars look awful... plus, it weakens the 'shell and makes it a nightmare to replace any rusted/dented panels in the future.

But, if you do choose to deseam, PLEASE don't deseam the roof gutter!!! Mini's just look wrong with this done!!

Ok, for some really weird reason I thought this was the Mini newsgroup :-)

Anyway, the same applies for Beetles (IMHO).

LOL I wonder about you... I need to go lurk some more in the mini NG... I REALLY want one still... but I have to wait til the trend dies down a bit

Removing the rain gutter lip that is on the sides of the roof on most(not all) aircooled VW's.

Once I was about to buy a bug de-seamed, the guy told me that sometimes the rain was entering the car. Not a good option in The Netherlands.....
