Hi everyone I have a question thinking about buying a new 1641cc Type
All the US 1500cc engines were 12V and had an engine code "H".
In any event, if the tranny is original '63, there are some issues to decide regarding the 6V/12V conversion. I think if I were putting a 1641 in, I would want to fully convert.
The '63 tranny doesn't really suit the 1641 in terms of gearing and power handling. You might consider putting a '67/68 tranny in, which would also solve that part of the 12V issue.

Ups... I am putting a 1600sp from a bus in a 61 bug...
Mine has a small clutch... brasilian bugs never got the larger flyweel, it seems... so everybody uses a 180mm clutch down here..
