New to group / About my bug

Your car originally came with a 34 pict 3 carb. Possibly a 34 pict 4 if was originally from CA. You are right about the seats being from a Rabbit. In 74 the seat tracks and seats were changed into what would be used on the Rabbit in

  1. The rabbit would also use quite a few parts from the Beetle, all to save cost on a new, risky endeavor (the type 4 was a sales failure, and along with the type 3, Ghia, and Thing, were discontinued in 73 &
74). You can switch your seats with any 73 up beetle, or super beetle, or any A1 rabbit, jetta or Scirroco. You can buy new seat guides to stop them from wobbling.

1st gen Rabbit seat tracks were located wider apart, the seats therefore don't "drop right in". Also the front center mount was not as tall as on a bug. When installed in a beetle, the Rabbit seats need to have their rear legs bent towards each other slightly (or cut and weld back on, off-center like I did, plus I added another half inch of height). If the rear leg height was unchanged, the seat would be slightly "leaned back", which some people might even like. (More sporty feel, as if you were sitting in a bucket seat.. sort of.. hard to describe).
