.....i see numerous threads on here and STF that are directed at vw magazines(VWTrends in particular) for alot of typos....well today i did something i haven't done for fifteen years...i bought a haynes manual for the vw bug....i needed a new one because i loaned mine out to a "newbie" that wanted to "learn" about vw's...well loan apparently equals "give" these days when asked...anyway i was specifically looking for the torque specs and wear limits of the engine components..(seems i *should* know the torque specs, but my mind is old...)...anyway more to the point(or lack of) the new haynes manual #96008 "VW Beetle & Karmann Ghia....1954 thru 1979, all models" looks *nothing* like my old one from the outside...my old one was i believe a purple color, but not really sure since the cover was torn off years ago...the inside seemed much more familiar,again from memory since i had not opened the book more than once for quite some time...as i flipped through chapter 2(engine section) i noted several spelling errors(typos if you will) that i don't ever recall seeing before....then again maybe they were there before and i didn't realize it? things like "war limit" instead of "wear limit"....oh well, enough rambling from me, i'm going to bed....night all JT

Speaking of manuals, it's a hoot to translate some of the originals. The Italian version of the carb tuning directions for a sixties motoguzi motorcycle concludes, "after making the adjustments do not spend an inordinate of time and attention to tune them further or soon thereafter because the carburators will invariably desynchronize somewhat. It is the nature of the machine."
