seem quite delicious! BTW, do you get pasties? From where I am in Plymouth (UK) they are really a traditional and poplar food. I had one for my lunch today :-)

I can get them at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Bristol WI, but they're not very good, according to a real Englishman. (From Chelmsford).

************* LOL!!! Here in the south & I assume all over the US pasties are the little round things that exotic dancers paste to their nipples - if they're covering them up at all... Now a "pastry" is a "sweet baked good made of dough having a high fat content". ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver"

Easy on the Giggle Cream!

Stuuuuudent !! Ha ha.

also interested in what the US Chav is ? The ones round here have taken to Asda car park. Beats McDonalds I suppose....

ASDA = Walmart !

and Pastie (past ie - not paste y )

Here - white spirit is different to paint thinner. At least for celulose paint !

Only place I know to get pasties is Michigan (mostly the UP but there are a couple places in southern MI where you can fine 'em...) or a strip club :)

....of course, you may get something quite different if you ask a local NC redneck for a pint of white spirits..

....Gareth

In the 50's we called farmers and country folks who worked outside "rednecks" because many of them seemed like hicks and had red necks from working in the fields with caps on and short hair cuts in the summer sun. Most wore bib overalls and long sleeve shirts rolled up to the elbows. When they came into the city on the weekends with regular short sleeve shirts on the tan lines on the arms (called "farmer's Tan) and the red necks below the hair lines made them stand out from the city folk. Made fun of their attitudes, speach and ideas in the city. In the late 60's when hair got longer most red necks disappeared but the term did not and has evolved to Jeff Foxworthy and his followers.

Here's a handy tip for you to add to your fifty years of real-world experience. If you're going to say someone is prejudiced, at least spell it right. You don't say someone is "prejudice." You say they are "prejudiced." Fifty years and you never picked up on that?

************* Sheesh Shag; I've been putting in some long hours (actually worked all night the night before posting that). You've never misspelled a word in your entire life? Besides all that happened was I didn't hit the d hard enough. Give me a break.

why would we do that?.....this *is* marked as an OT thread, so those that do not want to participate do not have to.... usenet has worked this way for years...

You can call me anything you want. I don't care. So long as it is justified. Do I have a red neck? Yes. Am I a bigot? No. Was I born and raised in Texas? Yes. Do I have some Bubba-like traits? Yes. Am I a gimmie-cap wearing, beer-belly, Pearl beer swilling, white trash, uneducated, thieving, family abusing piece of garbage? Not at all. See how prejudice can get in the way?
