I'm hoping that some of you guys in the Bay Area will know of a paint and body shop that does good work without breaking the bank. I would like to get the bug painted while the weather is dry. By the way, it's a '70 type I in the original color of Yukon Yellow. I plan on having it resprayed in the same color.

Call bugformance and peninsula auto see what they suggest. Maybe some shops in Santa Cruze. Auto repairs labor seems to be a lot cheaper over the hill compared to SJ area, not sure if it's true with paint shops.
As far as paint goes, most of the shops charge arm in a leg because of having to remove all trim, lights and etc. I've seen some nice paint jobs done for a couple hundred, but owners did most of the prep work and removal/replacement of the lights windows and etc. as well as wetsanding and polishing after words.
