release bearing guide sleeve

Sep 03, 2003 2 Replies

I have just found that I feel comfortable with the fact that I have the correct parts to put my 74 super back together and then I find that I should have a release bearing guide sleeve?! The problem is that my tranny is not plumbed to accomodate a guide sleeve, that is, there is no method of mounting it. So now my question is...

is it mandatory to have the guide sleeve? Or do I have an older model tranny and need different release bearing/ pressure plate..... HELP?

thanks

If you don't have the guide sleeve or the 3 holes to bolt in in there, then you have an older transmission. You will need the earlier release bearing and pressure plate.

Or the adapter input shaft seal with built-in guide sleeve, designed just for this purpose. From
