I have the most horrible tinting on my windows. It's too dark so I can't see at night. It's actually illegal but it came with the car. Zug's tinting came off easily because it was dried up and flaking off. This stuff is still stuck to the windows pretty good but it has bubbled a lot on the back window. I want this stuff off. How do I get rid of it?

Back when I was restoring my 74 SB I had this nasty tint stuck and baked on the glass. It was so bad that it flaked off in small pieces. I put vinigar in a spray bottle and soaked it, then took a razor (Mach

use a razorblade scraper...then use rubbing alcohol to remove the adhesive's residue....takes time but its not bad... J
This is the only way I know to do it... and if you have the rear window defogger you will lose it!

yep...forgot to add that part...hehe....i have never really "saved" a rear defog grid on *any* vehicle when removing tint...even if the tint is fairly new and will peel off, it tends to take the grid with it... J
what about carefully using a heat gun to soften the adhesive up and allow you to possibly peel off the tint like they do with the decals/woodgrain panels on some vehicles? Be careful, go slow and use plenty of ventilation!!

I used some stuff called "Sticker Shock" it worked real good for me.
Like others have said, razor blade.
Be advised, sometimes it stinks real bad when it comes off, at least it did on my car.

I find ammonia and a razor blade works well - Just dont tint shortly after removal (the ammonia residue wont allow it to stick well). The defogger on the rear window can be saved, but its a PITA - use ammonia and one of those PLASTIC pots&pan scrubbers..... Takes HOURS and your arms will be tired, but it worked for me (twice!).
judging by the number of cars out there with bubbling tint, apparently it does work to some extent. ;)
