Has anybody swapped out the original air filter for a K&N? Any noticeable change in engine performance?
Thanks for any info.

Just recently (2 weeks ago) installed a K&N filter on a 2000 S80 T6. The engine seems to have a little more pep (not as if it didn't before). I would have to drive it a bit longer before I comment further.

Makes plenty of difference to my dads T5 :)
Sounds better too.

I know a lot of race teams run K&Ns, but I question how effective they are on the street. I know for a fact that they flow more air. So much so that placing one on a vehicle with CV carbs necessitates rejetting. Beyond that, shine a strong light through one. It is difficult to comprehend how they filter out the very fine dust particles- at least for the 'original' ones that looked like they were made of cotton gauze. When you are re-ringing a car every 500 miles in racing it is no big deal. For a car that should easily go well over 250,000 miles I question their effectiveness. __ __ Randy & \ \/ /alerie's \__/olvos '90 245 Estate - '93 965 Estate "Shelby" & "Kate"

Placebo, maybe on some cars, but the stopwatch certainly recorded a drop of nearly 1.5secs to 100mph (where the law allows) over three timed runs with and without. using normal unleaded not super.
