Q: 700 Instrument-cluster gauges

Anybody out there knows what types of gauges to mount in the 2 spares in the instrument-cluster?

I know the turbo models have the volt and turbo-pressure, and I have seen a model with a digital outside-temperatur. But is there other gauges offered from Volvo, to put in the 2 spare holes.

In my first Volvo I installed a wide range battery voltmeter that saved my battery and a lot of grief on out vacation trip. This was a 270° meter that started at 8 and ended at 18 volts so the resolution was very good. While we were traveling through the dessert my wife and navigator pointed out that the battery thingy was reading over 16 volts. Since lead acid batteries have negative voltage temperature coefficient, this was not normal. The voltage regulator failed and was stuffing the battery whit more than it needed. I turned every electrical device in the car and went to the dealer. The generator idiot light will only warn you when the generator is not working.

I've seen volts, oil pressure and turbo boost, and I've heard of the ambient temperature guage. I think that was it though.

Not sure about the 700's, but there was a vacuum gauge available to the 200/300 series cars.

It's not one of the most useful instruments on the planet though.
