92 Jetta clutch adjustment

92 Jetta with self adjusting cable. Clutch pedal is right at the top of travel and will slip under heavy acceleration. Anyone able to fix this with cable replacement? Maybe switch to manual adjusting cable?

You might be needing a new clutch. :-(

If you look at rubber washer/grommet/spacer at the very end of the clutch cable (trans side), you could replace it with a thinner one that is used with the manual adjusting cable (A1s).

Of course it is tricky to reuse the self-adjusting cables. :-)

Lets just say that if you were to switch to a manual adj cable, you would not be breaking any new ground. It is worth a shot, but bear in mind you may still have to drop the tranny down and do some clutch work.
