Only once in awhile would they roll up but would eventually roll themselves back down. (Chicago had snow that was melting) I locked the Jetta from the driver's door and left it for at least 30 minutes. I came back to it and all the doors were unlocked and all power windows were down. I wonder could it be the door lock/latch microswitch? I peeked at the wiring from the door to the body and all seemed intact with no damage. I even took off the LF door handle to use a heat gun to warm the lock/latch up and dry any water that might have gotten in there.
First thought was to have the alarm disconnected and the starter wiring jumped. That was not the problem since it would still do the same. I even tried disconnecting the battery to see if things could be reset. After I reconnected the battery ALL of the windows rolled down immediately. And stayed down. Then I disconnected the Power Door Locking motor in the trunk. So far the problem has not emerged..........yet. The power windows will now roll up and down even using the key in the left door. I will let the two things stay disconnected until warmer weather comes our way. Then I will reconnect and examine the left door lock/latch microswitch.
Questions:
- Could it be the microswitch in the Left Front Door? (BTW I tried the RF Door lock and the same thing would happen)
- Where is the control module for the power windows? Is it in each separate power window motor?
