Blower fan 89 Jetta 16v

The fan gets power through the "Load Reduction Relay", but so does a host of other things. Is the ventilation fan the only thing that does not work?

IIRC I seem to remember a connection junction (two or more terminals plug into others) just under the dash that sometimes loses connectivity (terminals burn) and power is lost to the switch. Follow the wiring from the switch to the fuse box. Or follow the power from the fuse box to the switch. I don't remember if this was on the A1s or the A2s. And I could be wrong. ;-) later, dave

When I had my 87 Coupe, the fan would only work on high. And at that level it was like it was in the slowest speed. In that case, the guilty part was the bloody resistor.

Alot of people end up wiring the fan direct to the switch, one wire to the battery one wire to the sensor on the radiator and back to the fan, another option that can make life easy is to find a powersource that is on when the car is on and off otherwise and wire it to that.
