Hi, Assuming that the VW radio is displaying "SAFE", you need to do these steps:

1. Turn radio on and press MODE & SCAN buttons simultaneously until "1000" lights up in the display. At this point, release the buttons.

Note: make sure to release the MODE/SCAN buttons as soon as "1000" is in the display. If you continue holding them down, it will end up entering "1000" as the code.

1. Use the station buttons 1 to 4 to input the radio code. Eg. button 1 enters the first digit, button 2 the second, etc.

1. Once the code has been entered, hold the MODE and SCAN buttons again until the word "SAFE" is displayed. Let go of the buttons and your radio should start working.
