When was the last time you changed the oil. old oil gets thin and if the car has high miles or a week oil pump this could cause the light to come on at low rpm. If the oil has been changed you could need a new pump

If the sending unit is leaking oil it will short out the wire and cause the lite to turn on, assuming that the oil level is ok and clean, replace the switch, clean out the connector really good and that means to disassembled it when doing it. Also the next time you post something, give the year make and model

Suggest that you screw a manual oil pressure gauge into the block in place of the electrical pressure sensor and actually see what oil pressure you are getting at idle and as you increase RPMs. Sounds like it could be a weak oil pump or a dirty oil pickup that is reducing pressure. Without knowing your year, make, model, engine, and the mileage, you probably will not get much more useful information here.

Vehicle make, model, year, engine, mileage, grade of oil you use?

The light isnt' to tell you whether your crankcase is full or not. It's to indicate oil *pressure*.
