I have a 2001 Supercrew. The lights above the doors in the back seat get extremely hot to the touch when used for even a short time. I always have whoever is using them shut them off asap. Is this normal, and/or should I be speaking with the dealer about a possible hazard?

Those lights serve double duty. They are also used as cigarette lighters for the back seat passengers.
It's normal....all bulbs get too hot to touch.
