91 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 engine transplant.

While Bill keeps his word and posts the pic I sent to him, and his admission of wrongness, I'll describe the pic:

First off the high intake ports are proof positive that it's a 4.0 head, the 4.2's ports are dead even with the exhaust. That's a holley TBI in place of the carter, most of the factory plumbing is gone, only remains of the factory harness in the background and the holley FI harness. The coolant return no longer heats the intake which explains the holes.

That's a 4.0 Cherokee thermo housing which is a KILLER swap for your 4.2 thermo housing if you have aftermarket fuel injection that needs a coolant temp sensor, the stock location was of course... in the intake which no longer is heated by coolant in my case. The valve cover is a

4.2 which technically shouldn't fit on a 4.0, I milled the alignment ridge and used a late 4.0 (stamped steel cover) rubber compression gasket, worked great. I used the 4.2 because I wanted a place to bolt (the old cleaner housing bolt triangle) the custom cold air intake tubing (not shown) so I could rout it over to the cooler side of the engine.

Also as with any swap there were bracket issues, my PS bracket is chopped gusseted down low and no longer bolts to the intake. I ground clearance for the header, and the intake doesn't seem to need the support with extra large thick washers keeping it torqued down

Why don't you just post the photo over on alt.binaries.pictures.autos.4x4 for all to see or email it to me and I will post it there or in an online public album for 'show and tell'.
