Diesel Liberty

I want to go topless... simple as that. Needed a convertible AND 4wd... the Liberty couldn't do that.

Most women need nothing more than about three margueritas to go topless. You, on the other hand, need an off road vehicle.

Cool.

I live in Calgary, Canada and I have to convert from $/liter $CDN to $/ US gal USD. So diesel is $0.10 cheaper per litre than gas here. That's $0.32 USD /US gal.

Diesel used to be half the price of premium gasoline before OPEC

16.9 cents/gal vs. 32.9 cents/gal

The rate of exchange blows my mind.

"In the war on terror, the US has asked Canada for two aircraft carriers, two battalions of fighting men, and their latest in assault weaponry."

Unfortunately, at the current rate of exchange, all we got was two Royal Canadian Mounted Police with slingshots in a canoe.

Maybe the dollar will be worth more soon.

I'm in the Triangle, they are more proud of things here... must be because of all the politicians.

Where did I not say it is a REAL Jeep? I said, be sure it's what he wants. When I bought it I needed something to haul people in. People left,a and it was no longer what I wanted. I could have invested a shitload of money into it and it still would not have been what I wanted. I want to go topless... simple as that. Needed a convertible AND 4wd... the Liberty couldn't do that.

You may have misinterpreted my post thinking I was saying that he may want to consider another vehicle. No biggie, it's hard to catch those subtle nuances in text ?

Personally, I would have them both if I could afford them but I choose the topless option over the other luxuries of the Liberty.

I'm not gonna dis the Libby, nope not gonna do it. I know a few people in here are just waiting for it to happen too.

I loved the little beast... I'll still defend the little thing it was a damn fine vehicle BUT.. I am a spoiled, fickle creature and that's all I have to say about that.

Bill, that is a Socialist concept, that one has to justify access to resources, for the common good. In the United States, State of Colorado, where I live, people like Matt can burn all the diesel they want, if they are willing to pay for it.

Looks like the Penta's we used to run on the rig :(

That said, once again, fair call - I think I'll stick with the I-6 from now on :)

I suppose that depends what you do with it and when you decide to draw a line under running repairs. Across here ( and I guess in the US) fleet operators usually put a maximim economic life on a car of 3-4 years because they reckon that's when they start to get a bit tired. I've collected them with mileages between 30 and 130,000 and they still felt like new.

My previous car was a Peugeot 406 1.8 petrol and it ran for 9 years and had 210,000 on the clock. I sold it because it needed a complete overhaul that was in excess of the value of the car, and it was borderline on emissions. So looked after, I'd say that most modern vehicles will last 10 years without any dificulty - One reason for that is that the motor manufacturers have a long term goal of encouraging governments to place a 10 year lifespan on cars - so they have to make cars that will last for ten years.

Unless you go mudplugging and rockcrawling every weekend there is no real reason why your car shouldn't last ten years either.

lol It won't be worth much when I turn 67, or 75, or 89, or whatever the age is now.

The Libertarian Party is not socialist. One of their principles is the end of all government subsidies, including the corporate welfare your capitalist businessmen are so addicted to.

Can we all get together to buy Bill a good old timey steam engine so he can go babble himself to sleep and everyone else can actually talk about engines from the most recent TWO centuries? i.e. after he last actually was within a mile or two of modern technology.
