Oh, how lame! I can't believe I didn't notice that in the picture. OK, well yes I can cuz I once bought an economy set of headers for an old Pontiac I had and didn't notice it combined the 2 center ports out of one tube until a friend pointed it out. D'oh.

They are not hanging down. The spot the cross under the frame is directly behind the skid plate, and is not as low as the skid plate, and just behind them is the front mount for the spring plates. I can see how it would be *possible* for them to get caught on a particularly sharp rock, but they're not *that* vulnerable.

Hmm... but...your "if ever there was a need for a skid plate" comment got me to thinking... I have some plate steel that I could very easily do a couple of spot welds on to run between the rear of the skid plate to the front spring mount point...or maybe at an angle so the front bolts to the skid plate and the back is bolted to the frame, just behind the pipe....hmmm.... Need to get out there and look at it up close and personal but that might be a good afternoon project for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

I hate to be so negative on you Travis, but your pipes are well exposed and ripe for getting torn to shreds, or smashed flat.

Damn, I didn't notice that either.

Hey, thanks for trying to help, anyway. I'll bet if they make those that exit between the frame-rails that they make some that have all 4 tubes that exit between the frame rails. I've already got about $500 in the exhaust so I think I'll run with what I have for right now. I can't think of a good way to explain to my wife that I'm going to replace the headers that have about 150 miles on them with another set and then pay someone to do the tube bending for me again to hook them into the next set. ;-) Let's just hope that CRWLR isn't right about my tubes getting all smashed up and bent up. Hey, I know! I'll just make sure I only drive the Jeep on paved roads and I should be safe!

*retarded grin* Think again, Batman. :-D

Me?

Me thinks you think not. I have no interest in a V8 with a 3 spd. I'll take my I6 with a granny low 4 spd any day.

Sure. I get to pick the course.

Don't forget, I'm the guy that worries if the exhaust system will get torn from the bottom of your Jeep ... You can be sure that I will be selecting a course that all but guarantees the exhaust is gonna take considerable abuse.

Let's race on the road where I drive my Jeep 90% of the time. :-) If I drove my Jeep offroad 90% of the time then I'd settle for a only

6 cylinders. heh heh

The whole point of me picking the course is that I will pick one that is guaranteed to slow you down. :-)

It will be more of a challenge to get to the end than a race to get there first.
