Since when does 1 more inch cause steering problems?
Pulled my stock packs out of my 89 YJ SOA today. Had 8 more good stock packs. I pulled the 4 not as good mains out and stuck them in good stock packs after cutting the spring eyes off. I also added a short leaf to both. This gives me 7 leaf rears, and 6 leaf fronts.
We didn't measure, but it looks like it added about an inch to an inch and a half. I wasn't going for height, but cool! What I was going for was spring longevity with the addedd mains, and to clear my drag link better with the short leaves up front. The rear short leaves are to match the front's. I did gain the clearance I needed for my drag link, and the rear now sits a little higher than the front. The springs now have an arch.
Now for the problems!
When the Jeep is on the ground, steering wheel straight = tires straight. When the Jeep is moving, the steering wheel is 1/4 turn to the right. Braking it doesn't pull. Do I just need an alignment?
Other than that, everything works great. No DW, bumpsteer, vibes, anything.
TIA
Carl
