Found a good one very cheap, but it's in a Disco, bloke aint a clue if it will fit right in? Will it? If not what would be required to make it fit a 1984 110 with a LT77?

I've an idea the exhaust manifold and turbo pipework are different for the defender installation - turbo mounted higher I believe, to clear the inner wing.
on that age 110, you may possibly find the engine mountings don't line up, since it was built for a 2.5 NAD - I don't know that though.

The problem is the exhuast - the trubo is lower down so you'd need a custom downpipe. Some plumbing will be required for the radiator pipes, heater etc. Otherwise its just a straight swap and some thought as to where to mount things. In theory you would need a glow plug timer as well, but then 200/300Tdi's don't need them in UK climates. oh, and the Discovery engine mountings are fantabulous thingies compared to Defender, though I'm fairly sure you just need to remove all the extra bits and swap for Defender parts - the block is essentially the same as 2.5NA/TD's.

Not to my knowledge. i was under the impression that the 2.5NA/TD is the same block as the trusty old 2.25 litre diesel, just bored or stroked. whereas the 200tdi was a completely new engine.

as others mentioned I think the turbo is a different height and I think the ancillaries may get a little close to the power steering gubbins but as I understand it the engine mountings are the same for most land rover engines and it'll go straight onto the gearbox.. I think.

Not so - it was just re-engineered with a new head & pistons and the timing belt "imporovement" added. Many parts are common.
