item 313 looks like fun and the origins of the Alvis Tactica seem very 101 ish and there are plenty of 2 1/4 engines down the bottom ( cant remember who was looking for one recently ) Just a bit of harmless fun ?Derek

I went down there to collect a trailer I "won" on ebay - hell of a lot of trailer in like new condition for £150 including VAT (the arrow trailer).

Me and son had a long look around the whole site - they don't like people wandering around so its courtesy to ask beforehand - the director is worried about people claiming because of accidents and one of the staff related to me some idiot that wanted a picture taken in an armoured car and trapped his fingers on the hatch and then claimed he wasnt told it was heavy - yeah mate - half inch armour plate is very heavy!!!!!!!

The fire engines are fantastic value if that rocks your boat - land rovers seem to hold the price very well and they can get shot of all they can get hold of.

All in all, a great day out.

Yeah, but the GG is hell to drive. I was talking a few years ago to a squaddie that drove one during the last firemans strike - you have to give the brakes a fortnights notice you want to stop!!! Half the time the fire's out before you get there they are that slow - top speed is about 45 mph.

However, I salute the vehicle as it was used to great effect in our country's hours of need - they don't need them any longer because the army can now commandeer normal fire engines etc. whereas the law did not exist before to enable this - so the normal engines remained behind the picket lines and the GG's were brought out.

The ones at Witham are in remarkable condition!!!!
