clever stuff.

Maybe the stitches were required in the mouth of the scooter rider ;-)

I use TT6 on my PDA as a guide and to get me to places that I have never been to before but that can be highly unreliable(*) or when shoved off down a diversion then losing the "Diverted Traffic" signs in an area you don't know.

Assuming you have the one that you are on with you and you know where you are. Being able to turn on the GPS and a minute or so latter know where you are is realy handy. I use the Advanced Planning to get a guide ona journet time and occasionally Browse Map to find a place.

(*) The map I have doesn't know about quite a number of one way streets and/or junctions that are closed to stop rat runs. Wonder if a newer map is available for TomTom 6.010 under Windows Mobile 5 on an iPAQ PDA. The map file I have is "GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE-61e4e661" I can't find a version/date in a more readable from anywhere.

The message from Ian Rawlings contains these words:

They may well be required in the gobs of the yobs who've been trying to beat Inky up in the underpass on the way home from fpubby.

Or I might just sic the deputy head on 'em.

The satnav, when I had it, was brilliant for fine-tuning the ends of journeys, when the roads were too small to show on the map; however I don't particularly regret not having the thing now that it's died. Maps are far more reliable, plus if I need to change my route for some reason I can see the whole area at once.

I reckon I'll stick to maps.

Somewhere in the map directory is a map called cline.dat. The date you want is probably the "Date modified".

The website is currently showing version 6.75.

Or:-

For instructions on how to display the version you're using, then compare with the one they're selling on the website.

Unfortunately, the way I like to work requires a map on screen in an easily visible position. I just glance at it from time to time when I'm coming up to a junction to see where I need to go. With directions showing on screen, if I'm distracted for a second, then I miss the turn & that makes me lost.

It also wants me to have an internet connection permanently available (not necessarily connected) for route changes, as well as a bluetooth GPS receiver. That last part is the only one I've got, apart from a compatible phone.

It'd be nice if it was more usable.

Just my opinion, mind....

what version of the software? The one (now) on the Omnia does what you describe, but of course it'll jbex in vertical mode as well, which is quite effective. I've not yet discovered if the layout can be configured.

Ouch. Nah, our lot don't ride on pavements, as far as I can tell, they only buzz around noisily where yer'd expect 30mph scooters to be doing

30mph, really.

We got a dibble car 'round here sponsored by eTsco, and another which is a Honda Insight - slightly odd place...
