defender 90 - tail door heater

Jan 20, 2004 8 Replies

just had one replaced, due to dog eating the wires casing.

apart from the large muzzle and/or cage (dog will not chew anything else only the blo&dy heater strip and enclosed wiring i don;t know how., she just does)

has anyone got any bright ideas for protection of the wiring/area in the back (something to enclose it or cover it??)

and not for the cause of the problem, as she wont do it again..

How about upgrading it to 240v?

You could try wrapping silver foil around the cable outer sheath, our dog hates silver foil and wont touch anything thats got it on for some strange reason. Just an idea but might just work and it only cost pennies to try You could also try a repelant spray from a vet, something that tastes foul to your dog that you could spray onto the cable and see what happens if he goes for it again.

My dogs love that stuff. They immediately lick it off, which is very bizarre.

many thanks for the tips..

foil will be tried tomorrow, i have seen dot eat whole chillis so sauce may not work.!

the 'lecy voltage increase is a non starter.. as mrs uncle.wilco just glared..

will let the group know the outcome

cheers wilco

managed to wossname a template out of card, that covers the offending dog chewage area, and will molish something out of purse-specs when i find a suitable bit in the shed.

will get a photo once i can.

Whatever you make, cover it in coarse sandpaper, the problem will soon solve itself.
