Tried to unlock the Disco today and the barrel is turning but having no effect on the lock or plunger, before I strip the door is this a common problem?

Sounds like a busted link, or the bit of plastic that hold them in.
Does it open from the inside OK?
Opens Ok from the inside and activates the CDL to the other doors.
