disco stereo wiring

Hi. Got a '93 V8 disco with a Philips tape player radio and 6 disc changer. I want to change to a single disc MP3 player but can't get a lead to fit. My disco has the six? speaker config with bass speakers in the rear door so this may be the prob. The new stereo lead is ISO. Anyone done it before. Thanks, James.

If it's the same as my 95 Disco, there are ISOs behind the stereo which plugged straight into the new head. Once that was done, all speakers worked apart from the rear door sub.

There was another connector - which might have been red - which looked a bit like an ISO, but only had 2 wires connected. Black and red. That's a line-level mono feed to the rear sub amp (which is also in the back door)

Get hold of an old hi-fi phono lead, chop it in half, connect one end to the line-out or sub-out on the new head, connect both cores to the red wire, connect both screens to the black wire.

If I remember correctly, there are 2 ISO connectors which connect to the speakers and power - see eg

for wiring info. There was also another connector which connected to the dash controls, and a separate connector for the rear sub.

The sub connector looked a bit like an ISO, it had around 10 pins but only 2 wires connected.

Find that connector, turn on ignition and touch the red wire - you should hear a buzz from the rear sub.
