Discovery engine speed

Jan 26, 2004 4 Replies

Last night on my Discovery V8 3.9 after I decelerated on the the motorway the revs dropped down as they should then shot up by about 700 rpm then died down again. This did this everytime I tried it. It has an LPG conversion but I was running on petrol at the time. Any ideas why the engine speed should shoot up then down again? TIA Richard

Auto or manual?

Richard,

Mine dis that now again (with the other engine), never did track it down. I would check your auto-box level, try and remember last time the filter was changed, check/lubricate the kickdown linkage and also check the throttle cable....all this was done to mine when the 4.6 went in...and it doesn;t occur now ;-)

Also, at what speed did this occur? you might have been sitting on the lockup (52mph in the V8)

Thanks Neil, I'll have a check the things you mentioned. The filter hasn't been changed since we have had it (9,000 miles) its done 68,000 and had a LR FSH before that. The speed I was doing was approx 40 ish. Richard
