Discovery roofrack

Greetings One and All

So, the 110 has taken what is becoming a habitual seasonal break - this time something seized at the back (wheel/diff? - dunno yet, that is for another post maybe).

Anyway - in the meantime I have a job or two that needs ladders - anyone know if the roofrack from the 110 will fit the Discovery?

Alternatively - if you have a suitable (but now spare) unit gathering dust lemme know.

hrmm - or perhaps a different solution is possible? The disco has the two roof bars (over the front doors).

Thanks for reading.

When I take the bars I have off the IIa and put them on the Disco I have to adust one of the clamps on each bar to make the gap between them narrower / wider ... I forget which. The bars I have fit series / defender / RRC and Disco... al be it they are a little tall for the RRC but fine over the hump on the Disco.

If you can adjust the width of yours you should be ok.

Ahh - thanks for the info - no, it's not adjustable - without application of cut/shut tools.

I noticed there are a couple or three sets of cross bars on fleabay that fit into the holes on the roof rails #160064323695, 320061127113,

Thanks, wondered about that - not sure that makes a suitable base for transporting ladders, one of which is as long as the vehicle (bumper to bumper).

I've got mine on at the moment they seem tough enough (certainly a sod to get off) I don't know what load they are rated at but I would think they would be better than the gutter mounts of old. Derek

Right - I may be unnecessarily cautious but the idea of balancing ladders on a diddy roof rack seems somewhat foolhardy - even if they are secured with proper ladder mounts.

Someone tell me - it just works. Please :)

heh - oh well, nothing to lose I could just get a set and give it a go.
