EAS ECU Address Codes

As a professional developer of embedded systems, specifically for engine and generator control, I'm sorry to tell you that they haven't much of a clue 8-). The most telling is that one of them thinks he can remove the processor and read out the program using a programming station, he's no idea that embedded micros are always protected against this sort of reverse engineering. The only way they are going to 'crack' it is if someone finds that the details of the protocol have been published. Greg

Instead of simply saying they 'haven't much of a clue' why not join them and contribute something positive to the discussion for the benefit of all enthusiasts?

All Lucas ECU's have a "back door" so's you can poke about inside - gives very good access for dignostics, though not really intended for public consumption. Bosch won't allow allow any access at all, which means you only have the info that they want to tell you. Even if it's wrong. I can't say about others.

As another professional developer of embedded systems I sadly agree. However I sent the guy the CPU that came out of my ECU so he can play. Actually the Motorola units do have a back door and it's quite well known so we shall see,,,,,

This is the reason I went for the 'simpler' solution of rechipping mine. All I want is some daylight without rain/sleet/snow so I can run some mains out to the truck and run the logic analyser on things. All I need to finish up is a clear view of what the protocol on the ride height switch for normal operation is.

... but I'm booked to go diving on Sunday (provided the sea stays calm) so it might not happen this weekend.
