Insurance

What on earth are they playing at? NFU was great with the 110, just about competitive with the Disco1, but the next year insurance has come through from them at double last years.

Been with them 12 years, no accidents or claims.

Any recommendations for a new insurer? I don't off-road or anything, but must be covered when towing, which always has been normal for the Disco and the daily vehicle on the other insurer.

I wonder where you live Bill

Looks like the premiums in the Bolton , Blackburn and East Lancashire area has doubled in the past 18 months due to fraud

My Lad mentioned Adrian Flux as a specialist insurer for Landy's ,

You might have to be member of some club or other

I was with Lancaster for 2 years then suddenly they said I was not covered by the scheme - nothing had changed at my end !!!!

I find that these discount only last 1 or 2 years then it's sky high again and phoning around people !!!!!!!

That's the problem I had with Swintons. They took over the original brokers I was with, and it was all nice for a year or two. Then they started phoning and sending e-mails. Then the premium went through the roof. So I called Lancaster. I daresay I'll be calling someone else next year.

Hmm interesting. I just moved my house insurance from them because they had this stupid speech recognition renewal system that wouldn't understand me and then said the volume of calls meant I would have to hang on for 10 minutes + to speak to a human. I spent the 10 minutes ringing elsewhere, getting a much cheaper quote from LV and moving to them instead.

Thanks for this and for the other answers. I'll have to wait till Monday to ring around as it has turned busy here with recent gales, trying to sort out the Disco electrics etc.

With Aviva you can do it all on line. Don't have to speak to anyone at all.

Most, if not all, the insurance companies will give a quote online, it's cheaper than paying a droid to do it over the phone or by marked dead tree.

The hard bit is the gert long of slightly different questions they all ask and the slighly differnt levels of cover. I generally avoid the comparsion sites but for this sort thing entering all the information just once and getting back a lot of prices to investigate directly saves a lot of finger work.

FWIW I'm with Aviva for a DII and a Fiesta. Don't think I have off-road coverage but I don't think the insurance company could say that a BOAT is "off road" and thus not covered. They are public rights of way and thus as the policy covers the legal requirement to use the vehicle on the public road...

That's correct. Advice I have taken states that " unless the insurer states that coverage is restricted to " paved Public Rights of Way " then use on all Public Rights of Way are covered. Off Road coverage is a different matter. Although as my advisor states unless specifically excluded there is a big question mark ---- what about the farmers field at your local Agri show/Pop concert/Caravan Club Farm sites.IF your vehicle is designed for Off-Road use then you MIGHT be able to take a company to court if they refused a claim that was NOT specifically excluded in their policy.

I would imagine they fall into the same category as supermarket car park.
