Land Rover GS101

I have seen a fully restored, show condition immaculate looking GS101 for sale appox £4000 Q. Is this a fair price for the vehicle? and How do I convince my girlfriend we need it?

  1. Yes, it is a fair price
  2. What's it got to do with her?

Sounds very cheap for a "fully restored" 101. There are a few (2-3) absolutely immaculate, gleaming, correct in every detail, better than they left the factory, 101s around; these seem to be worth at least 2, 3 or 4 times more. Now "show condition" is another matter - people show any old rubbish (aka "authentic").at military vehicle shows.

£4000 should, however, buy you a reliable, well sorted 101 that shouldn't need any major work for a while, with pretty straight panels anad at least half-decent paint.

As regards the girlfriend: just tell her that you can fit a mattress in the back. You can't in a 90.

I *knew* I had a defective wife! :)

Having just got a Rover 200 to replace the Disco (she didn't like driving the Disco), I'm now considering whether I can get away with buying a 110 next year to take to Iceland, and then selling it afterwards. They hold their value well...

If anybody's considering selling their 110 CSW in about May next year, could they bear me in mind?

Dunno, I didn't need any convincing - in fact we got an Ambi for me (my spare time will be spent stripping paint once the weather changes), but how about these:-

They are very cool vehicles - nobody messes with you in a 101! You can fit a *huge* amount of shopping in the back. You can *always* find you vehicle in the supermarket car park. They have huge pulling power...... Never hire a van again. There is *nothing* quite like sitting *on* a 3.5litre V8 engine. Small boy magnet (important when you have small boys as we do) The most fun vehicle to drive - I always get out of the 101 smiling

To hell with the girlfriend, just buy it, you know you want it!

Lizzie is spot on, there's nothing like a 101 for fun driving. Even better with a few friends in convoy with someting interesting hanging off the rear hitch.

the seller ended the auction early, so I think that means he's sold it away from ebay :(

Commiserations :-(

Might be worth an email to the seller though ?

Try Graeme at Crook's brothers - they had four 101s in the yard last week.

Look, just stop this, OK? It's like selling marijuana at the school gates.

What? Everybody you try to sell to tells you they can get it cheaper from their own supplier?

I have.

It doesn't work, especially with a binding brake.

Have 101's been down classified??

If it _is_ as you say, yes. Actually, it's underpriced by 1500 quid or so I reckon.

How do you convince a GS that you need a girlfriend?
