Hi group, any idea of approximately how many miles per gallon I should be getting out of my 3.9L discovery running on petrol and lpg. I drive fairly gently and don't know what I should be expecting to get.
Many thanks

Mine is managing 14mpg with an expedition roof rack up top, and a misfire (still). Without the rack I've previously been getting 16mpg.
I'm hopeful of a bit more when I get the engine running right.
Al, as a guide, with my LPG fitted P38A 4.6 automatic, I get 18 litres/100km on LPG on trips at motorway speeds and around 21-22 litres/100km around town. (On petrol I get 13 l/100km and 18 l/100km respectively). I've got a bit of a heavy foot.
The P38A is probably heavier than the Disco.

Hi
My 1996 Disco V8 ES when I bought it 2 years ago and converted to lpg with
22,000 miles on it, 12-14mpg driven with reasonable enthusiasm. Since replacing LR HT leads with a set of Magnecor leads and fitting an RPi Engineering A&R ignition box, 14 to 17 mpg plus much more power and greater driveability, more so than on petrol in fact.HTH.
we have magnecor leads on ours and did have an Rpi box. What have you set your timing to as I may put it back on? Richard
16 degrees ahead of whatever it is on petrol I believe. If it's an early RPi box and you have a Bosch coil, ask RPi to exchange it for you as the early ones didn't like the Bosch coils and didn't work properly. Mine was replaced and has worked faultlessly. Make sure you keep the amp module you remove from the coil somewhere safe as they are bloody expensive if you ever need one again!

just got 18.6 on unleaded in my recent acquisition (3.5i disco). no gas on it yet, and I've just put the set of magnecor leads on it today.
I'd expect about 14-16 on gas, when I get it converted. more like 14 probably if open loop - a good closed loop well set up ought to do 16.
The word is that you should get slightly more MPG from the 3.9, provided you're doing the same sort of speeds.
