New Suspension + VAT?

I think there's a bit of confusion (hopefully it's not my confusion), my local model shop (that's model cars, not girls for hire!) owner was doing his usual snorting with derision at his hated customers saying that they all expected him to lower his prices, claiming that he can't lower them because he's paid the VAT at 17.5% already. I did try to point out that he claims back that 17.5% while charging 15% but he wasn't interested. He said all his suppliers were putting their prices up for unrelated reasons anyway so it didn't really make any difference.

A letter was sent to me by the revenue about it all, perhaps some haven't seen it or didn't read it.

The last 2000l fill up for us in April 48.85p/l we've burnt all that now. This lot should last until mid February but if it stays cold or colder like it has been the last week make that mid January. B-(

No. I can see, now, that it can be read like that though. The pipe is normally something like 25mm poly in a coil about 1m in dia with the pitch about 50cm. To fit that in you need a hole 1m wide and 2m deep.

A proper ground source heat pump doesn't take surface heat it takes it from the ground which is pretty stable at around 55F (think caves). What you have to be careful about is taking heat out faster than it can conduct in or you freeze the ground. Some systems have two loops and you switch between them depending on which one isn't frozen.

Mine should be OK until the summer, might splash out on a wood-burning stove plumbed into the water system, I've got 6 tonnes of wood in the garden!

Still needs about the same sized hole then, more than I thought, but it sounds like we're talking about two different types of system.

I think this system that I saw was purely for taking heat that built up from sunlight during the day, can't remember where I saw it now, might have been for commercial premises.

Tell 'apporth you'd gladly refund his 17.5% if he sells it to you at that price!

Maybe, exposed surface pipes (black alkathene) arranged in a large flat coil pancake are used as semi-passive pool heaters. Semi-passive in that you need a pump to circulate the water but there is no heat-pump just solar gain to the water in the pipe.

Something like that was on Grand Designs, or as it's now known hundred pound designs.....

I used to watch that a lot so that might have been the one I saw.
