So weird it must be true...

So it's the anniversary of the hovercraft, and whilst it might have some general interest for Land Rover enthusiasts, any sane person would reasonably assume that's where matters might rest.

But we know different :

My only conclusion is that it's either the result of an apprentices' drinking week-end, or an April 1st project. I have to say, unlike those various tracked thingies, I really don't want one of these...

I've seen this before, and even saw it in a cutaway in the Eagle comic. It didn't actually hover, the air cushion was used to reduce ground pressure with the wheels actually providing drive and steering, a really crappy idea that probably never really worked.
