Hi Guys, has anyone had problems with erratic operation of the tacho on a Discovery? Mine is a 97 TDi.

can be dodgy alternator bearings or a crappy connector to the terminal on the alternator, too.

I have had the same sort of problem, I then had a fuse go. I had a look and there was some metal covers that had coroded where thay screw down. I just removed them and the problem was solved.

Spot on, the alternator bearing was noisy and booked in for replacement. The last two day was a little lazy to start, and the battery checks out fine.

I had it booked in to have the alternator overhauled. During the day received a call to say there had found it was not serviceable as expected and had to be replaced?

Is this true, or have I been had?

Tks

Mike
