I know that bit pal! I was only looking for a rough guide, not an exact valuation!

He wants too much for it anyway, the reserve is £2400, it needs a new door frame (inner bit) & valley or rocker cover gaskets. He also says the inner wings are a bit scabby. I might make him an offer of £1600- £1700 & sort the bits myself! I dpoubt it will make it's reserve of £2400. Whats the score on inner wings? Easy repair or a nightmare?

If the reserve isn't met doesn't mean that the seller *Could* sell to the highest bidder, I've won a few things when the reserve hasn't been met, sorry if I touched a nerve, happy bidding.

sometimes, this works. That's how I got Edward II - reserve was too high, I was high bidder, we came to a deal, he made me an offer, I accepted.

If folk don't actually use eBay in the way it supposed to be used, no f***er would sell anything would they. How else do you find out reserves if you dont bid to your limit (without cheating I mean)

The way I see it is - I either keep Tyson & buy a cheaper V8 (like a Disco or RRC) around £1500, or I buy a good LSE or cheap P38 (running costs must murder me on that one) & sell Tyson. I can't use a 110 with

I do use the 110 for work a hell of a lot more than I thought i would, it can haul some serious kit around. The WRX just cant carry that kind oif load. I really like the WRX so don't want to get rid.

I think a nice clean RRC or Disco is a good buy as I can tow, do decent miles & carry me s*it about. The

I think the seller can offer to the highest bidder but the buyer is under no obligation to buy. Unlike, in theory, if they win the bidding.

Calm down Nige! No need to get worked up! I thought that everything Otto said was perfectly resonable and sensible, youve just taken it the wrong way!

If you don't want people to see what you are trying to buy then don't use Ebay and link us to auctions you are bidding on! You are in for a pretty expensive week though if you win that many cars ;)

You do also know that if an auction ends and the reserve hasn't been met you can always send the seller a message and ask them if they want to compromise somewhere lower! Most people tend to put stuff on ebay as they actually want to get rid of it If the reserve hasnt been met then they obviously had it too high. Many people are prepared to compromise.

I've been highest bidder on a few things that havent met the reserve and have come to a compromise with the seller anyway and bought them.

Agree Nige, if I wasn't doing longish trips for work I'd have gone for a Defender or similar rather than a newish/lowish mileage Disco II.

A 2hr/100mile drive to start a 12hr+ working day plus, sometimes, the drive back home as well in anything that is noisy and/or uncomfortable just doesn't bear thinking about. Mind I find the Disco II slightly more tiring than the old '95 Mondeo, not sure why.
