we'll be there one of the days. Have wanted to go for some time as I want to go and have a nose round in the archives and find out some more info on the Cluley car(made by Clarke, Cluley and Co in Coventry, 1920's)

Worse than that they arrived this morning before I read this. Drat drat drat.. Now I'm looking at the 101 with those "well how scruffy can it get" looks.. just short of rear seat belts and rear seat cushions .. oh and wiring up the lights for the tow hitch. As much as I'd like to do an A team impersonation and lock myself in a barn with a set of oxybottles and a pile of scrap I don't think I'll pull it off. :-(

Of course if they need a support vehicle on the stand then I can oblige but seems hardly the same.

Feels bit like someone just cancelled Christmas... sniff sniff.... but I'm more determined to be online for Eastnor now.... yeah...COME ON !!!YEAH!!!! .... SHOW ME THE RIVETS!!!!!

Won't be getting it back until tomorrow. Needs a rear cylinder, plus apparently some oik gatecrashed my pre-booked slot with power steering problems. Still, I'm not bitter...

Gearbox is getting worse though, so unless the oil change has worked a miracle I don't think I'll be bringing Burrt to Gaydon. The Disco sounds pretty good though, owing to the exhaust falling off! So I'll not be needing the tickets after all :-(

May have sourced a well priced Rangie 4-speed though...

I tried to bribe him, threaten him, offer him my sisters phone number... Still wouldn't havr it though...

Seems 101s will be very light on the ground at Gaydon :-(

I have 2 sat outside... :-)

Bugger, didn't get yours done either then? Didn't realise Wednesday was half-day closing in Sheffield ;-)

Warren has one on the floor of his garage, which he believes the current owner has no use for. We'll see...

Still two days to think of another incentive. Shame really, I've been telling too many people about his skills - and as a consequence, can't get my own sodding motors done...

Still taking Grumble on the run and will be there for the three days, means I'll have to drive if the power steering isn't done though... :-)

On the plus side, the fuel filler is now on, after only 9 months. That's probably where the afternoon went...

So tomorrow, for the first time, I will have the joy of that 100+ litre fill.

Only if your tank is fecked... :-) (unless you have a custom made tank...)

Thought it was 108 litres?

Bet you'll max out at 96...

If I can ever get this calliper off and restore my brakes I might end up at Gaydon!

How much have I won?

Gearchange is more positive now Warren has rebuilt the selector, but it still makes noises and won't engage second very often. A Range Rover box will be too much hassle to fit, so I either need a recon 101 box or an automatic conversion. There seems to be a lot in favour of the auto having talked it over today.

Grumble looks good with the new rear lights.

Next visit to Warren will (hopefully) be for the MoT in June.

Whats the difference between the RR box and the 101 version? The bell housing is different, and i presume the transfer box has different innards too, but is the main box the same?

Assuming you mean the lt95 box, the bell housing is 2" shorter and so is the first motion shaft, this increases the distance to the back axle whilst avoiding the sump being hit by the front axle, even so it mens both propshafts are at a fairly steep angle due to the bigger wheels and body clearance. I think the 101 had a suffix (a) which related to a lower ratio drive to the transfer box, whilst RRs had (b) or (c).

On or around Thu, 29 Apr 2004 19:47:34 +0100, Tim Hobbs enlightened us thusly:

I'd not really want to go back to a manual one on the 110 now. The 4-speed ZF is a good piece of kit, assuming you can get it into a 101. Bear in mind that if you source it from a Rangie with the borg warner type transfer box, the total length of the 2 propshafts is 2" less. In my installation, it was the back one that I lengthened.

If ever I replace Morphs Engine with owt else I think I'd be interested in dropping in an Auto too. Given the problems Neil has with overheating I'm a little reluctant but I know Neil is on Diesel and suspect s 3 speed box would be preference to a 4 speed so it gets into top and stays there sooner. (Summat to do with locking up sooner thus reducing heat in the box)

The good news is I've gone through some serious emmotions in the last 24 hours. The Campsite I booked rather hastily before learning Gaydon had camping called last night to say that they had Overbooked and besides which were waterlogged (Farmers field CL site) amoungst every other excuse the geezer could think of to say "I've cocked up you can't come" without actually commiting it to words. I was a little ***ked off as one may imagine.

Just got off the phone to a rather nice chap at Gaydon who has come to my rescue so looks like we will be on site after all :-) Only disappointment being that we will be Morphless.

What time are you Planning on landing chaps? Is there likely to be a 101 lovers corner?

Well, a happy outcome, really.

...and you still have your free passes I hope :-)

We'll be there early afternoon on Saturday. We generally all gather in the corner as you enter the camping area. I'll be setting up the 'zeebo/field cinema there if nobody else nicks the spot, so we'll pretend you've brought Morph and let you share your booze with us :-)
