normally the check engine light comes on when the ecu has seen something
that is not correct in either engine or trans <powertrain> operation. have
the car scanned at a local repairshop.you dont have to have the shop repair
the vehicle just have it scanned so you know what the check engine light is
on for. have the shop document the code and description for you then have
them clear the code and see if the check engine light returns again. if it
returns again repair the necessary item<s> needed to make proper operation
again. most shop will charge a nominal fee for just scanning a car some will
do it for free.the shop i work for charges 35.00 USD for a scan request.
