check engine light

May 10, 2005 4 Replies

my 2000 rx300 has 58000 miles and the check engine light just came on. is this an indicator for regular maintenance, or other? the vehicle is well maintained, regular oil changes, etc. is there a way to turn the check engine light off, without going to the dealer?

thanks. tom

thanks for advice, i think i will take it in for a scan. would a tire store have this equipment to do the scanning?

tia

Likely not. Note also, that practically EVERY "repair" shop will charge up to as much as $75 for this procedure. By contrast go to any AUTOZONE (auto parts) store and they will do it for no charge.
