Is there a consensus as to whether the transmission hesitation issue exists in the 2005 RX330? I'm looking at buying one, and the salesperson is assuring me that the problem no longer exists. I frankly am not convinced. Can anyone tells me what the status is?
Yeah it is... not as bad as 2002 and 2003, but its still there... do a rolling acceleration (go 35 mph, slow down to 10 and hit it to go to 40)... u will see its there
With regard to your 2004, how many miles are on it? We hadn't experienced any issues with ours and right around the 31,000 mile mark, all of a sudden it started acting up. The dealership reset the ECU and so far my wife hasn't noticed it as badly, but I am sure it will come back.
I just had the latest patch installed on my 2002 ES300, TSB004-03, and it has been working well for the past week. Bear in mind that it takes about a month for problems to resurface following an ECU reset, so I need to give it another few weeks before I'll know for sure that the transmission lag is finally fixed. I believe this newest version will be inserted into their production line, if it hasn't been done already. But any vehicles that were already out the door when it was released may have the previous version. The reason I say all this about my ES when you asked about the RX is that the technology is shared among all their vehicles, so it is reasonable to assume any ES transmission fix would make its way to the RX line as well. My personal opinion is that I believe the latest tweak is a positive one, and they may have done just enough to make it manageable. That said, Toyota and Lexus are the most reliable cars on the market, and I recommend that you not have reservations about a new RX330 if it is within your budget.

this may have been fixed in the recent update...check out the latest version of the software in TSB TC004-03. This applies to ES300 and ES330. I had mine done last week, and so far so good...
